Prior to joining the University of Technology, Sydney, he was a Principal Lecturer in Information Systems at the University of Canberra and previous to that a Research Engineer at Telecom Australia and a Senior Systems officer at the Telecom Information Systems Branch..
He has also been
Since 1988, his work has concentrated on designing systems that support focused teams and communities using Internet and groupware technologies. It has concentrated on developing methods for analyzing knowledge needs within distributed systems and choosing the best technologies to satisfy these needs. His earlier research has been in systems development and design methodologies and has published three text books in this area.

information and knowledge and is carried out in the Cooperative systems laboratory An outcome of this laboratory is groupware tool for supporting electronic workspaces as a way of supporting coordination and knowledge sharing. This is now being extended with software agents to provide active assistance to workspace users. |
